How to fix song tags in your music library

432 Librarian finds what is missing or wrong in the tags of your songs and proposes fixes. You choose which ones are saved into the files.

Before you start

Chrome or Edge on a computer, to save into the files. A guest fixes 25 songs, a free account 100 a month, Pro with no limit.

Steps

  1. Choose your music folder

Open the app, go to the Health tab and tap Choose folders. On a first visit the welcome asks for it. Pick the folder where your music is, and allow the browser to change it if it asks.

  2. Look at the health score

The Health tab shows a score and What to fix: songs with no title, no artist, no album, no track number and more. Tap a line to see those songs in the Library.

  3. Find fixes

On the Health tab, tap Find fixes. On the Fix and fill page, tap Find fixes: the app looks your songs up in the MusicBrainz index and on our server.

  4. Review the changes

Each song lists its changes: the old value crossed out, the new one, and where it came from. Guesses from file names and online years are not ticked. Tick the ones that look right, or use Tick all and Untick all.

  5. Save into the files

Tap Save N changes into the files at the bottom. Each file is backed up on your device and checked when it is written, and it gets a small 432 tag, so it is found again after a rename.

  6. Undo, or fix a whole album

Undo puts the originals back until your next save. To fix one album at once, open it in the Library and tap Fix this album (with a free account: one album a day, Pro without limit).
