Questions and answers
Short answers about 432 Librarian, as the app works today.
Getting started
What is 432 Librarian?
A music library manager that runs in your web browser. It checks your music files, gives your library a health score and fills in what is missing: titles, artists, albums, track numbers, years, genres, album covers and lyrics. It also shows which songs your albums are missing. Nothing needs to be installed.
How do I start?
Open the app, go to the Health tab and tap Choose folders, then pick the folder where your music is. The app reads the tags of your songs (MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, Opus, WAV and AIFF) and shows a score and a list of what to fix. Tap a line of that list to see those songs.
Covers and lyrics
How do I add missing album covers?
Find fixes also looks for covers of songs that have none, in the Cover Art Archive and on our metadata server. Tick the ones that match and save. On a song's page you can also find a cover online, choose a picture from your device or remove the cover. A guest gets the standard size (500 px), a free account HD covers (1200 px) where the Cover Art Archive has them.
Can it add synced lyrics?
Yes, with a free account. A guest sees lyrics as a preview only. Tick Also find lyrics (one lookup per song without lyrics) before Find fixes, or open a song and tap Find lyrics. Lyrics with a time for each line are marked Synced. They are saved into the song file, and if you like also as a .lrc file next to it. We keep no lyrics on our server.
Completing albums and Buy links
How does it find the songs and albums I am missing?
The Complete tab compares your albums with a public index built from MusicBrainz. It shows the albums you own part of, such as 8 of 12, with the songs that are missing, and the studio albums of your artists you do not have yet. It runs by itself after each scan. You can switch that off in Me (the account button at the top of the app).
What is the Wanted list?
A list of songs and albums to get later: tap Add to Wanted next to any of them. As a guest it is kept on this device. Signed in, it syncs with your account on all your devices.
Where do Buy links go?
To Amazon (amazon.com) for now. Other services, such as Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music and Deezer, are shown in Me as coming soon. On this website a Buy tap opens the song's or album's own Amazon page when Amazon has one, else its search. Some links earn us a commission, at no extra cost to you.
432 Hz and 528 Hz
What is 432 Hz music?
Music tuned so that the note A is 432 Hz instead of the usual 440 Hz, a little lower. Some people prefer how it sounds. It is a listening preference: 432 Librarian makes no health claims.
Can I make 432 Hz copies of my songs?
Yes: Tools, then 432 and 528 files. Pick Tuned to 432 Hz or 528 mode (A moves to 444 Hz, the tuning whose C is 528 Hz), then Studio engine, which keeps the tempo and length, or Resample, which changes the speed like a turntable. You can listen to 20 seconds first. The originals stay as they are: the copies are new files.
Does it play music?
Only a small preview with a 432 Hz switch, to check a song while you fix it. Listen in 432 Player opens your songs in 432 Player, the full 432 Hz player for the web, Android and iPhone.
Accounts, free and Pro
Is it free? What are the limits?
Yes, to start. Without an account: a scan and health score of the whole library, 25 songs fixed, a 3-song try of Convert and 432 and 528 files and another of Loudness, and lyrics as a preview. A free account: 100 songs fixed a month, Fix this album for one album a day, Convert, Loudness and 432 and 528 files for 3 songs a day together, lyrics and HD covers, a synced Wanted list, and previews of renaming and duplicates. Pro: no limits, and renaming, moving and removing duplicates are applied.
How do I create an account?
Open Me (the account button at the top of the app), enter your email and tap Create free account: we email you a password and you are signed in right away. Or tap Continue with Google. It is a 432 Player account, and it also gets the 432 Player newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email.
Does my 432 Pro plan count here?
Yes, when you sign in with the same account: a 432 Pro plan from the 432 Player web player or its browser extension, or a 432 Player or 432 Radio plan bought on Android through Google Play, counts as Pro here too. On this website, Pro is the same 432 Pro, bought through its web checkout.
Can I delete my account?
Yes: Me, then Delete account. Your email, name, sign-in and Wanted list are removed and every device is signed out. Payment records are kept without your name. The music on your device is not touched. Deleting does not cancel a running subscription: cancel it first on the 432 Player Plans page.
Privacy and files
Are my songs uploaded?
No. Your music files stay on your device: the app reads them in the browser. Only names leave it: artist, album and song names for lookups on our server and in the public music index, and your Wanted list when you are signed in. Usage counts never carry song names, and you can turn them off in Me.
Devices
Which browsers can save fixes into my files?
Chrome and Edge on a computer: they can open a folder with permission to change it. Other browsers, such as Safari and Firefox, can read a folder and show its health and the fixes, but cannot save them into the files.
Is there an app for Android or iPhone?
Not yet: apps for Android and iPhone are planned. Today 432 Librarian runs in a web browser at 432librarian.com.
